Perch are a great eating fish. I love fried perch tacos with avocado slices, cheese and mango salsa. Glad you got out. Probably not too many good days left. Make the most of them.

MikeV

Posted by: Buck
on: 08/23/25 10:04 AM

There were a ton of bait balls stacked up in that spot we fished with slip bobbers and alewives. That is my next trip to Squantz, fish the evening bite and use alewives. RobtV and I also did good trolling at night. He liked jointed Rapalas in black and dark orange and put a little wiggle in it as we trolled a long.

Another tough day

Posted by: MikeV
on: 06/09/25 08:04 AM

Too bad about the launch and the lake overall.

I wonder what caused it to go from a pretty good place to a pretty bad one. Crandal Pond/Tolland was fantastic many (35 years ago). It's roughly 9 acres but it was loaded with bass in 8-12" range and had decent numbers of 1-2LBers. There were very few panfish. It was wonderful place to take the kids after dinner to tie into a few bass in their limited attention span of about 40 minutes. About two years later, very few bass and tons of stunted (they be OK to top a pizza) bluegills & redears. It never came close to being good again. Someone should figure out what wrecks a pond or small lake so it can be corrected and prevent it from happening on others.

MikeV

Late report East Twin Sunday 5/25

Posted by: ctffishman
on: 05/30/25 02:46 PM

Arrived at launch at 5:00am. Wind blowing 20mph!! Oh boy. around 6:30 the rain started up and the wind died down. Air temp 52 and surface temp 58-59. Trolled mooselooks for the morning and landed 7 trout. Kept a 14" rainbow that was hooked bad. The wind picked back up by 8:00am. 10-15mph. Fishing was good even though the weather was not. Fished jigs drifting with the wind and caught bigger fish that way. Several 18" up to a 23". All browns. The lake is the best for nice size browns that I fish now. Wish there was a free state launch but we take the good with the bad. Most fish were down 3.5 colors trolling or I would say 15 to 25 feet jigging. Ended landing 15 with a few LDR's. Only one Jet Skier around 10:00am!! He only made a few passes and left!!
