When he was playing in college his story made me a fan. He was electric.

I stopped following teams in sports and became a fan of storied events while they were in motion during the Yankees run starting around 96. The Brady run was another event I followed. I realized he was on the road to unparreled greatness. He was the Sinatra of football. Once in a lifetime. (I missed the Sinatra event and became a fan after he passed). Jim Calhoun raised Ct basketball to an impossible level followed by Auriemma and I watched or listened to all the runs. I can tell you where I was the first time the girls beat ?? for the first time. Cant recall the team that was their nemesis during the early runs.

Ohtani is the story I jumped on the bandwagon for after the 2024 world series.


Don Imus and Rush Limbaugh pioneered talk radio. I was fortunate to have a job working solo for years and had AM talk radio on from 6 Am to 3 Pm.There will never be another like either of them. I first heard Rush the day the gulf war started. Imus was on the radio the morning of 9/11 and I got first hand reports of the news as it occurred. I was on the way to a job interview. I started listening to him around 92 and also would listen to Mike and the Maddoog before switching to Rush. Hearing the New York version of sports was very insightful. I was a diehard Red Sox fan from 66 to 95 and after waiting till next year for 30 years I switched to the Yankees before the 96 season. When the Sox finally won it was like going to your ex wifes wedding. You wished the couple well but couldnt celebrate the experience.

I dont follow sports of any type but check the highlights a few times a week on MLB youtube. When I realized I could do well at bass fishing starting in 1988 and in 1991 tournaments I stopped watching sports and eventually TV altogether. I was so active being outdoors anything I was not participating in became a thing of the past. I also played adult softball from 1976 to 1995. Mitchs post on getting outdoors was an experience that I went through at multiple ages. My uncle used to call it GOYA. Get off your ass.

When covid was the story I stopped listening to the radio. I still cant tolerate commercials of any kind after having Covid. The 11 second overload of constant changing carnival like dribble Fs with my brain. I listened to a few innings of the playoffs and the series otherwise zero use. All my news is internet generated.

Best in depth interview ever with Roger Clemens the man, who he is and was, not the guy who was portrayed as hated and despised. There is a lot of closure for me personally after watching this video. The whole era of juicing voided what otherwise would have been a natural acceptance of the greatness in which the stars played the game and their enshrinement in Cooperstown. The baseball HOF was one of the first things I learned about as a young baseball fanatic following the Red Sox starting in 1967. My mom bought me an almanac of the HOF and the history of the members when I was 9 years old. I absorbed that book cover to cover. So much so that when I was 10 and acting as a batboy for 2 Hartford Twilight League teams I recognized by name a HOF player who showed up for an old Timers game in Colts Park. I walked less than 5 feet behind him as he approached the diamond after parking his car. I knew exactly who he was.
