1) Congestion-the driving in CT is insane and getting exponentially worse every year. Rt. 91 is a freaking race course! 2) The people-The majority of the people are getting to be complete a-holes, due IMO to #1 above. It's every man for themselves these days. 3) Crime-as talked to above, the bad people are overpowering the good people and the authorities have no power to stop it anymore. 4) Financial-the state is in a horrible position and I'm fed up with taxes going up for services I don't even use. 5) The State of VT actually VALUES it's fish, game and environment. They support it, fund it, and promote it.
When I come back to CT from VT it's like a huge culture shock. In VT everybody drives close to the speed limit (50 mph unless otherwise posted) and they actually are very polite drivers (and people). When I'm driving down RT. 91 it's amazing how the average speed goes from 68-70 in VT to 75-85 in CT with people cutting you off at every possible chance. I can't take it anymore.
If I could afford to leave today, I would, and I'd never look back.
Thanks for putting up that picture Mitch. I'm almost 70 years old and have lived in Connecticut all my life. Why any young couple would want to live and raise a family in this "tax you to death" state boggles my mind when there are so many other states where housing, food, and taxes are far less than in Connecticut.
To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical. Thomas Jefferson
Saw a hit and run on rt. 80 last week east haven/new haven border. That SOB didn't even slow down when he hit the other car. I cringe going through that area. Traffic is definitely worse now then it was when I was a kid. Thinking of moving down to Florida (when I retire) but I think the traffic is worse then CT!
Down there they pump significant monies into fishing down there from what I can tell.

After living and owning on LI I cannot wait to move back to CT for the time being. Granted I dont want to retire there but LI is so expensive especially since I live on what they call the "gold coast."
