Two years ago, there was one that was vacated on that site. I firmly believe that it was due to the RC planes. There is now a new nest that was built in the spring of '10 that is about 300 yards south and a little further back from the shoreline, but it is still right on the perimeter of the field that is used for flying.

I went by there yesterday but without my bino's, I can't be sure if the new nest was occupied but I will see next week. You may also want to look into people camping on the weekends at the north end of Gildersleeve Island directly under that nest...

Not sure if anyone knows yet, but there is also a new nest on Dart Island State park...

They are definitely making a comeback. It's nice to be able to show my clients as many as 10 different nests between Hartford and Old Saybrook!
