When we do a news release the names are included at the time of the arrest. For us publishing the name of every person we give a ticket to or arrest for a violation would be like the state police publishing the name of every person they give a traffic ticket to. The press honestly doesn't want that info, they only want the "big" cases that are out of the ordinary. I know a lot of the small town newspapers print every ticket the local police give out, but with everything we've got going on statewide, logistically it would be problematic. I would guesstimate that for every case that rises to the level for a news release we probably have 20 to 50 more going on that the press isn't interested in.

Also, by the time we do the monthly highlights some of the cases have been adjudicated in court and the case may have been dismissed. At that point we cannot publish their names. The only places the monthly highlights even get posted are here and two other websites (for public viewing). The monthly highlight report that I post here is a copy of a report that is actually generated to brief our Bureau Chief, Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner and other higher level administrative personnel within the agency as to what we are doing for significant cases each month.
