The process for certification of instructors involves the following steps:

1. Passing score as a student on exams administered in the CE/FS course.

2. Passing score as an applicant on the CE/FS instructor examination.

3. Successful completion of the online Hunter Safety Instructor Training program, which is available at http://www.ormtraining.com

4. Successful teaching of a minimum of 2 hours in a CE/FS course; and an acceptable evaluation from the Chief Instructor supervising the course.

5. Successful interview with the CE/FS Coordinator.

6. Successful completion of the New Instructor Workshop.

You may complete steps 2 – 6 above in any order. Upon receipt of your application, the CE/FS staff will process your background check and send you a second packet of material for your attention. You can find a list of our current courses on our DEP web site at http://www.ct.gov/dep/cwp/view.asp?a=2222&q=320790&depNav_GID=1633.

Please feel free to contact Charles Bruckerhoff, CE/FS Program Coordinator at 860-642-7239 if you have any questions about this certification process.

This is a copy of the email I received from DEEP. I will try to get going on this at some point in the coming months but have a very full plate to contend with currently.
