In the past, an avid walleye fisherman-Squanto-posted a report with photos of several large walleye he caught with stockies in their bellies. I personally have never had a predator hammer a small perch off my line, I believe their hard scales and spiny fins make them a little less desirable to the larger fish. With all the alewives available and they are the very snackable for the denizens of the semi-deep Squantz Pond, why bother with a much larger stockie?? When I fished for Walleye in Vermont on a regular basis, smaller baits were the rule. For what it's worth my two cents to the discussion.
