DEEP was correct. You must show proof of a Bowhunting specific safety course - think this requirement went into effect in 2001. Now I have no clue if VA has such a course or not. Even in our firearms course we cover archery in a very minimal way - more to familiarize it to students, but mandate the bowhunting specific course. it's a one day course and no online learning option right now. he can take ANY bowhunting specific course that he can get into, doesn't have to be CT's course.
Contact Franklin Wildlife 860-642-7239 direct and ask them, They manage our CEFS course and might now what VA offers and if it is valid.
