JON,

i saw TONS of alewife in my only trip there this season. at least in east twin. massive clouds on the finder, and visably seen in the shallows.

zebra mussels have had over 6 years to infest these waters. it hasnt happened yet. why havent they exploded?

perhaps something about candlewood isnt extreemly condusive to thier presence? why dont pike establish themselves, or the pickerel? ive seen/landed both, but they have no fishable population whatsoever. both get sucked in through the housy...

additionally, zebra mussels provide a HUGE food source for crayfish. an increase in crayfish could offset the population reduction of alewifes, if there is one.

not saying they wont have some of an impact, but IMO the sky isnt falling just yet. with the amount of boats running candlewood, and bringing in those things, the place should be infested with them. in fact every lake in the state should be! JUST MY BOAT ALONE!
