30.April: The Wall. When I arrived about 4:40 pm, there were less than a dozen shadaholics plying the water. Two shad were landed in short order as I set up. The river was down a little, turbid with a fair current. Not too much debris floated by, and the breeze was much lighter than yesterday, and out of the South/Southwest. Rumor had it that Bill C shot a surface temp around 56º F.
Reports were that the action had been fair earlier in the day. Of course, by the time I showed up, it had fallen off. I caught the stinky kitty, and only saw about 8 shad landed, with about 4 others lost before I left at 6:30 pm. At least it was a good day to be out practicing my casting, and the banter was entertaining.
Terminal tackle: 1.5 oz drail over a 4' flouro 10# leader, and a hammered silver leaf in Bill C's Candy Corn pattern.
