Good evening guys, Just finished a dinner consisting of sushi, local shrimp and fresh Cajun seasoned tuna. We decided to take a chance and head for some larger fish. Capt Hoop headed to an oil rig 60 miles from shore.... a little bumpy on the way out but nothing that the Glacier Bay Canyon Runner couldn't handle. We arrived at the wreck and put out some lines. A quick hit and we bring in a cuda. We are marking fish and have a couple runoffs, one had teeth because it severed the line. We set up for another chunk drift while tuna are busting the surface. Bobbie's rod goes off and she lands this tuna in an outstanding 15 minute battle.
We continued to work this rig with out any more luck, headed to another with no luck.
Headed to a third and Scupmaster picked up this nice Scamp Grouper! A 27"er that is large for this species, but we had to release it because the season does not open for a few more days.
We decided to call it a day and head in.
While at the dock, I didn't feel too bad when a really nice contender powered with triple 275hp verados asked us how we did and showed us their one black fin for the day! Today was tough fishing, but still a lot of fun!!!!
