As the years have passed and I have gotten older I have been getting into darker and harder metal, Mettalica doesn't even come close anymore. Now, I think of them as "stuck up, mainstream, sally wankers".

For those of you that like real metal and hardcore mosh pits, take a look at Cradle of Filth, Lamb of God and Static-X....to name a few.

Cradle of Filth is from England and are very popular in Europe and Scandanavia. I think they will be touring in the states next year, they have a new album coming out in October. They are definately my favorite...

Lamb of god is similiar to Pantera.

Static-X is like a cross between Rob Zombie and Pantera.

Scandanavia is the new hotbed for Metal. There are several great newer bands coming out of there.

As some of you know Kamelots singer Kahn is from Norway.

Saint Deamon is another very good Metal band that is from Norway with Norwegian Jan-Thore Grefsatd at vocals.

I saw this guy in 1979 at the New Haven Coliseum twice in June, he was the opening act for Ted Nugent & Kansas.

He is one of THE MOST UNDERATED guitarists & probably one of THE BEST EVER!!!

John, me and some buddies used to play the Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush "Live" album quite a lot back in the 1980's (at top volume). His song "Dragonfly" was very cool live and his live version of "Purple Haze" actually did the song justice, imo.

Here is a link to 5 of the new Metallica songs. Somewhat like the old stuff, still not sure if I am really digging it though.
