They are used in many store bought fluke rigs. Typically light wire and prone to rusting out quick.

They are used a lot for fluke. They seem to hook fluke in the side of the jaw, a lot like circle hooks. Even when dead sticking.

This is actually the hook that the circle hook was designed from...They don't have to rust out just have to buy tinned ones...

They don't call me "hardcore" for nothing!

I used them for years, not sure if I consider them better or worse but I have gradually shifted over to Gami Octopus over the years...They are sharper and easier to come by...I have tons of 4/0 Kahle hooks but they are bronze...Let me know if you want to give them a try...

BTW, thanks on the tog...She was a big girl!!

I use the Gamis, too. Would like to tie up some rigs with the Kahlies.

I use kahle hooks for flukin' all the time. I like the Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp (with a black finish) in 3/0 - 5/0.

I use the Eagle Claw nickel Lazer kahles straight shanks on non-skirted rigs. I also add a twist pin to the eyelet when using thick squid strips. I found it makes for better hook-ups.
