Whos job is it to remove dead dear from the highways??
FYI, there are 3 on rt 9 South from the Exit 6 entrance down to the exit 5 area ! ! Also another deer on rt 9 north just getting on the Essex entrance. I was a little disturbed, this am, I can't imagine what little kids think of this.

Once the animals are killed by a vehicle they are considered solid waste. It's up to the local highway department on town roads and ConnDOT on state highways to pick them up.

Whats the regulation on an individual taking posession of the animal?
For instance, I come up behind someone who just hits a deer. It is April. I want to take it home and eat it. Can I? Do I need to call the town or state?
