Not to sound like smart ass, but that is almost a trick question. Need more info on where specifically you will be fishing. The reciprocity from State to State is not all inclusive. They have made it so hard to enjoy a day of fishing what with different regulations, different license fees and coverages.

Isabella is not within the shared waters of Long Island Sound, so a New York license would be required. I assume you are a CT resident? You should be good in RI with a CT license, but not certain. A CT license is good in NY waters only within Long Island Sound. Sounds like you will need at least two licenses.

That is a great link. Simple to follow. Now if only Ct could do something like that. I particularly like the explanation of where the fee money goes. My buddies are gonna have to pony up but I am still gonna have to pay alot more for my wife, kids and grandkids, no matter how you look at this. I think it was Maine or NH that really got it right at $2.00 per license.

Agreed, RI makes it easy:

Quote:
If you already registered with National Saltwater Angler Registry Program you do not need to obtain a RI Saltwater Angler License to fish in RI marine waters. Please note the Federal Registry is not honored by all neighboring states, best to check ahead with any state you are visiting to determine their specific rules

New York

What is the cost of a recreational marine license?
Resident annual marine fishing license –$10
Resident 7-day marine fishing license –$8
Resident 1-day marine fishing license –$4
Resident lifetime marine fishing license – $150
Resident lifetime combination fishing and recreational fishing license - $450
Non-resident annual marine fishing license - $15
Non-resident 7-day marine fishing license - $10
Non-resident 1-day marine fishing license - $5

Are there any reciprocal license agreements with other states where marine waters form boundaries with other states?

Yes. If a state sharing a marine water boundary with New York has an active marine license** program and grants New York recreational marine fishing license holders fishing privileges in that state's portion of the boundary water(s), then New York grants the appropriately licensed anglers from that state the privilege to fish in the New York portion of the boundary water(s) without securing a New York recreational marine fishing license. The following waters are included in this reciprocal agreement:

Connecticut: those parts of Long Island Sound lying between New York and Connecticut

Rhode Island: those parts of Long Island Sound, Block Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean lying between Rhode Island and New York.

Note: the state has to issue a marine license. Participation in the federal registry alone does not qualify for the reciprocal agreement

If you're fishing south of boundary waters, say south of Fishers, Plum, Montauk, etc. you will need a NY license, somebody correct me if I'm wrong.....

We'll all need to install new file-cabinet draws on our boats for paperwork. A dozen differant licenses, registrations, federal duck stamps, SBC boat operator certs, offshore permits, inshore permits, demarcation tri-state charts, spreadsheet printouts to keep track of what state seasons are opened or closed, size and bag limits per 3 states, and not to forget the dates and times of channel closures at the Niantic Bridge.. Hm? Have I forgot anything? Probably..

Like my kid once told me after going through all the rigamarole of playing baseball in Little League..

"Gee dad? This isn't fun anymore.."
