Well last year the wife bought a shed from Costco and it has sat covered and strapped since last year. I am sick of all of "her" stuff in the garage always getting in the way. So I started clearing the area we are going to build it in and I have a big Yew Tree stump that we cut down last fall that i need to get rid of as it is right in the path of the new shed. I have looked online and can rent a stump grinder or should I get someone with a grinder to come and do it for me??? Have no idea what it costs to have someone do it so does anyone here do stump removal and if so how much??? I am leaning towards renting the Vermeer grinder at Taylor but fi someone can come and do it for less (I doubt it) I would be happy to pay for it.

Rent! Just be sure to get a larger model. I rented a Vermeer last spring. It was like $150 for a 1/2 day vs the smaller one for $85. I was able to remove 3 large stumps (6-8 in below surface), clean it up and return it with time to spare. Just make sure you get the larger model with large carbide teeth. A friend rented the smaller one, it was a little bigger than a lawn mower and had a blade that resembled a large table saw blade. It sucked! Took him all day to get 3 medium sized stumps just to ground level.

Just my 2 cents but if your only doing the one stump I'd call a couple guys and see what they would charge. I can't imagine one stump would be much more than the 150 dollar rental and your time to do it.

Well I have several stumps that i can do if I rent the grinder so i thought that would pay for the rental as i have about 5 stumps to grind.

Ya... That looks like the one I rented. It ate right through pretty quickly.
