The proof will be in the pudding, which will be the # of manuf. jobs that stay or come to CT because of reasonable Enviro. laws.
I know for a fact that many leave for that reason. You just don't have the same Enviro-wacko policies in other states. Of course, they're all out of the Northeast. (lib nirvana)
Environment Committee today unanimously approved HB-6386, An Act Establishing the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, that codifies specific goals for the new agency.
Here is the mission-specific language of the measure:
There is established a Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, which shall, for the purposes of environmental protection, have the following goal: To conserve, improve and protect the natural resources and environment of the state in such a manner as to encourage the social and economic development of Connecticut while preserving the natural environment and the life forms it supports in a delicate, interrelated and complex balance. For the purpose of energy policy and regulation, the department shall have the following goals:: (1) Reducing rates and decreasing costs for Connecticut ratepayers, (2) ensuring the reliability and safety of our energy supply, (3) increasing the state's use of clean energy, and (4) creating jobs and developing the state's energy-related economy . . .
We shall see

I know all about this proposal, Since i am Security at DPUC in New Britain, When i was talking to one of the employees today, She said that there is a meeting with the DPUC employees tomorrow (WED. June 8) afternoon and either the Commissioners and or the Chairman is going to be holding the meeting, I will try to find out the details of the meeting and post it here in the next day or so, (I only say in the next day or so, Because i am in the process of moving and i am not sure if my nephew is comming tomorrow, (Wed. or Thurs.) But i will post the info i find out ASAP. The employee who works in the business office said only about 2 of the 5 employees who work in the business office will be staying in New Britain and the others will be going to Hartford to work.
Besides the DPUC, Also the OCC (office of the Consumer Consel) will be merged with the DEP (DEEP)
Click on the link below to see the post i made on May 13 about this.
As i stated above, i will try to get information about the meeting and post it here.
Alot of the employees are on edge right now for two reasons, 1) becase there are alot of rumors going around about the proposed merger and 2) because of the voting that is comming up for the concessions for the union contract.

Here is the update that i said i would post, It is not much of one, I talked to about 4-5 employees to find out what Kevin DelGobbo, The Chairman of the DPUC said, I really could not get a straight answer from anyone, The meeting started at 2P and ended at 3P, From what information i could get, they said that the name is going to change (I believe on July 1, the name change should go into effect.) instead of the 5 Commissioners that we have now, That will be cut down to 3 and they will not be called commissioner, But their titles will be director.
The paper reported this morning that the state is trading 17 acres of prime property overlooking the CT River in Haddam to a developer. When prompted for his opinion on the trade by both Republicans and Democrats, Esty failed to provide a response. I'm betting that his handler told him not to.
