Bill,

great info, thanks for all the updates!

i was actually wondering though, will there be species added to the RECORD fish sizes, not current species being added to the trophy fish program.

the suggestions i made were not for trophy fish, simply to be added to the record books as a new species to land.

if there is someone i can contact and do the legwork to get the info let me know, its very kind of you to hunt for this info for me. id very much like to see the bowfin or sea robin added to the record fish for the state; it would create a lot of fun for many anglers, and offer a chance at...gulp..."greatness". wink2

Good point Mike

If bluefish were to grow as big as giant bluefins, then there would be nothing left out there except for blues!

If bluefish were the size of bluefin, I would poison the whole ocean.

Hi All,

The additions to the trophy fish list will allow us to do several things. We will issue Trophy Fish Awards and issue New State Records for the new species. We expect this year to generate a new State Record for each new species of fish. Essentially for a while every application for the new species list has the potential to be a new State Record. This is going to be a lot of fun. Who is going to be the holder of a new State Record at the Trophy Fish Award Ceremony in 2013? This is your chance. Who will be the greatest?

Thank you for the update Bill.

I'm gonna try to hit a nice 4 or 5 pound white sucker for the book!

Mike,

I understand your concern about budget thats for sure, but i think the 35 seconds to write and record a record fish for any catagory is harldy a waste or abuse of finances or resources. remember, this would be done at a desk, not by one of the very very few field officers we have protecting fisheries.

it may not excite you to have this, but it opens another door for young anglers, and promotes awareness of more species in our state.

its one decision where i just cant see any BAD coming from... what or who does it hurt?

but noted for sure about $$$ and time.
