Swung by West Hill this morning with thoughts of launching and fishing for a while. Well when I saw the first section of the parking lot was full of CARS and no trailers I got a little upset and left. There was only 3 trailers in the lot and maybe 8-10 cars parked in the lot next to the store with a bunch of people just hanging around the store BSing and what not. Now there is a parking lot across the dam for the lake assoc I believe so why can t the lake residents park in their own lot and just walk a few more feet. It's bad enough you have to put up with a few launch rats when launching or trying to load your boat and then have to park in the back lot. Maybe some more sinage in the lot or maybe a letter to the lake assoc explaining that the parking lot is for boat launch use. I'm sure that if I parked in their lot I would find a ticket or towed vehicle. Rant over. I'm sure that I'm not the only one that has experienced this before.

Same deal again at Winchester yesterday. People parked in the turn around area and then went for a hike, making it impossible to maeuver anything with a trailer down to the ramp.
You make a good point. I'll bring my own food rather than patronizing a place like that. You would think the owner of the store would say something to the people about the parking lot. I liked it better when the store was closed.
Tim, don't forget the people that clog up the ramp itself. The ones that fish right where you need to beach the boat, or the father teaching his kid how to use a kayak..right in the middle of the ramp..or the guy throwing a stick in the water, so his dog can retrieve it..right in the middle of the ramp..or the kids wading in the water..right in the middle of the ramp...

air leak you got the definition of a "launch rat" down pretty good. Trouble is that they think the launch is their private waterfront property and just give you grief when you want to launch. Hey anyone want to join me for a day long picnic at West Hill launch tomorrow? Just bring the kids dogs and some chairs and we can stay and watch fireworks in the evening. Parking is free.

I've only been to West Hill a couple of times (mainly cause I target Largemouth), but it does seem like a big hassle to launch there. Both times "the launch cop" asked a bunch of questions when we trying to launch, but the worse part is when you come back and the launch is a zoo. Just rather drive the extra miles to places to like Lakeville or Twin.
