Has there been any consideration of changing the regulations to a year round requirement to wear a pfd in the above mentioned vessels? Being in the business of searching for these folks when they are lost and an avid kayak fisherman myself, I would think it would be a no brainer. Most imperative, think of the lives an updated reg would save, also think of the dollars it would save the State of Ct and the USCG, not to mention the local municipalities who have to search for the unfortunate victims that have been lost.

See you at the beach!

Common sense tells you to wear a PFD at all times in those types of craft, something so obvious that you wouldn't think we we need a law to "remind" boaters.

For the first car I ever owned on 1964, seat belts were not mandatory, but the first thing I did was add a driver's lap belt to the cockpit, you need one in a 1960 Beetle just to keep you in the seat.

No changes proposed that I'm aware of.

As an avid kayak fisherman myself, I agree and disagree. This is a common sense situation and if necessary one should be worn, otherwise they should be on the vessel, IMO. If they are going to change this law, then they should have to change helmets are A REQUIREMENT at all times while operating a motorcycle in CT. Its the same idea. I do not wear my PFD at all times, and I feel it should be a choice during the season. I feel as though your having a comfort factor taken away by making people HAVE to wear them.
