Trespassing is apparently LEGAL on Sundays - That's what opponents of Sunday hunting say. They want one day a week they don't have to worry about getting shot.

The failure of that entire line of thinking is....The Sunday hunting proposed so far was only on Private land. Therefore....to get shot by accident by a Sunday hunter...you'd have to be trespassing on private land without permission.

It's unconstitutional to forbid Hunting on Sundays. Name one other recreational pursuit that is only legal for 6 days a week???

....If we have any say... Vote for May

I'm going to take the "baby steps" approach that everyone who always wants sunday hunting on private land only with bows typically take.

IMO - crossbows state wide is a baby step towards expanding hunting in general. You'll have people who can't pull a bow (too young or too old) that can get back into bow season without having to use a Lock-draw style accessory.

More hunters = more support.

Sunday hunting unfortunately will be the last thing we ever get in this state - so I'm ok taking what we can get and keep working towards the ultimate goal of sunday hunting.

Sunday Sales Now Allowed In Connecticut!

On May 14th, Governor Dannel Malloy signed legislation ending Connecticut’s antiquated ban on the Sunday sale of alcohol. Connecticut consumers can now enjoy the freedom and convenience of purchasing alcohol at neighborhood package and grocery stores on Sundays and the Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day holidays.

Thank you to everyone who helped support the End Connecticut’s Blue Laws Coalition.

You can drink now - just not hunt....

More Blue Law BS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Laws_%28Connecticut%29

...No one to cross a river, but with an authorized ferryman.
...No one shall run on the Sabbath day, or walk in his garden or elsewhere, except reverently to and from meeting.
...No one shall travel, cook victuals, make beds, sweep house, cut hair, or shave, on the Sabbath day.

....If we have any say... Vote for May

Crossbows are already legal for disabled hunters to use in archery season in CT last I knew and are allowed during the January bow season. What else would this law change? Nothing like having a scoped, rifle stock, crossbow firing a bolt at deer during the archery season.. a poachers dream.

Fingers crossed on Sunday Hunting for private land archery passing this year.

Crossbows are not legal in all areas for anyone during the standard bow season. Many states like Ohio Pa RI and Wyoming as well as many southern states all bows are legal durring bow season.

Your comment about a poachers dream is way off base. You sound like someone from the old days that fought to have compound bows illegal when everyone used recurves. Have you ever hunted with a crossbow? There are enough anti hunters out there already and you should support all hunting. Do you support PETA?

Agreed This is the exact same argument traditional guys used against compound guys. Frankly - a poachers gonna poach whether he has a compound or a crossbow. I can't wait until they post that its definitely a go - I'll be at Cabelas seeing if I can convince dusty to sell me the xbow for 800 bucks instead of 1100 since all the other dealers are offering it for 800 !!!

The prohibition against Sunday hunting is probably unconstitutional on the basis of the 1st Amendment Right to Assemble. This is the argument that was used to open public facilities to non-residents like with parks, beaches and boat launches. It was the argument we used with AG Blumenthal at the Town of Morris Bantam Lake boat launch.
Ironically, this argument is probably better made with Sunday hunting in state forests than it is on private lands but there are other constitutional arguments with private lands that could also win.

If you are talking about People Eating tasty animals, then yes I support it.

Crossbows are legal for disabled hunters in all areas last I checked in the archery season, what else are you talking about? I have no issue with the disabled using one of those things in the archery season, but the use of a crossbow as a weapon in the archery season by a non-disabled hunter I don't support. Archery is a sport that takes time, practice and skill to master, it takes more time to learn then buying a crossgun off the shelves and sighting in the scope a shooting "bolts" at deer.

Connecticut has a long firearms, muzzleloader and private land seasons that the crossbow can be used in, why invade the archery season? I am a member of the NY bowhunters and we been beating back the crossbow lobby every year as they pour money into Albany trying to allow the crossbow into archery season.

To answer your question, no I have not used a crossbow. I enjoy the challenge of archery, I enjoy shooting all year and in the fall I enjoy the challenge of bowhunting for deer. Make a season for the crossbow like the firearms, why invade the archery season?

Just my 2 cents
