I get- Unless operating at night you don't need a safe boating certificate, but do you still need to register the boat???

The provisions of this section shall not apply to any person who, between one hour before sunrise and one hour after sunset, operates a vessel propelled exclusively by an electric motor that is rated at one hundred six pounds of thrust or less on the inland waters of this state upon which motor powered vessels exceeding ten horsepower are prohibited.

Means - you don't need the certificate to operate a vessel with an electric motor 106lbs of thrust or less on state waters where there is a 10hp limit. Doesn't exempt on federal waters but it does on inland lakes/ponds, etc.

Yes, the boat would still need to be registered and the exemption only applies from 1/2hr before sunrise to 1/2hr after sunset.

So to be 100% clear this is a change from, all vessels, all times, powered by a motor to a lessening of the restriction so that if you are on an inland body of water that is deemed as 10 HP or less, and you have an electric trolling motor, 106 lbs. of thrust or less, and you are operating this vessel b/w one hour before sunrise and one hour after sunset, then the only change for meeting all of these qualifications is that you don't need a safe boating certificate???

#2? Who was pushing for this change?

Skip, thanks again. My little Tennessee brain just ain't quite jiving today!!!!
