If i see someone illegally speeding in a no wake zone can i take a picture of said vessle/craft with reg numbers and email the deep with it?
The picture would show the wake, boat...could the deep at least look up the reg #'s and file a complaint? Even a warning at least....would make them think twice about it?
Could provide date and time and i can give ya a google earth snapshot if you like, everytime i go crabbing there is always two violators or so.

Been going to this tidal river for years, no one has ever even checked me to see my catch

...let alone see an on the water presence to make sure no wakes are enforced.

If i were to call the deep they would never show up in time.

If there is no one to enforce it how can justice be served?

If you want more information I would be happy to PM you the river.

Thanks for reading this.

You can do that, but....

We won't issue a summons to someone/make an arrest unless we witness the violation. The way the process works if you want to file a formal complaint an officer will need to obtain a written statement from you as you are the witness to the "crime". At that point enforcement action can be taken. Be advised though, if we go that route and the person fights the charge in court, you will probably have to appear in court and testify against the person.

And, it's either the CT River, Housatonic River, Thames River, or Branford River.

I know you're not happy about us not being there all the time but with 32 officers covering the entire state, which includes all the rivers, lakes, state parks and state forests we're spread a little thin.

only 33 officers for the whole state?

this is down from what i believe was in the 60's prior to jodi rell?

i applied, took and pased the state police exam, with the hopes of a carrer in enviromental law enforcement either here or in maine.

i found out i passed i believe the same week Rell cut the staffing into the 40's? might have the nunbers wrong. realized very quickly i had no shot. i would have loved it!

our whole system is wrong John. the money doesnt fund anything close to like it should. this is just one aspect.

That's all right Chris...I can't count either...we just hired another officer about 12 weeks ago that I forgot about so we actually currently have 34 officers.

Loc: CT. Got a problem with that?
you should be able to contact the coast guard, state or town police or harbormaster that the river is in, in a similar fashion.
Perhaps they have would have more resources readily available (no offense to DEEP).

If you chase two rabbits, you will not catch either one.
