Recently, the site will not keep me logged in, I do use multiple computers and an IPod for access and yes, I check the remember box.

Thanks.

It's finally happened to me a couple times with my PC (Firefox), and even once with my Galaxy S3 (Chrome). Tried changing my PW just in case. We'll see if it happens again.

I haven't been able to get it to fix - it's been happening for some time now. It will even make me login multiple times on the same visit as I try to navigate between posts and forums

Are you using Internet Explorer? If so, try this:
http://www.ctfisherman.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/1339597/Staying_logged_in#Post1339597

I know the site can be a pain sometimes staying logged in with Explorer, or on some Apple devices.

My best advice is to try Firefox or Chrome browser and see if that helps.

Hello administrators,

I'm not sure who owns the site anymore, there have been a lot of rumors going around. But, if anyone still works on this site, this issue happens multiple times a day on i.e, firefox, and chrome, doesn't matter. The only place it isn't broken yet is on my android phone. IF you could just go ahead and fix this, that would be great, thanks. Paying member.......

In a nutshell, what’s happening is web browsers and the forum software don’t always play nice together.

Although Firefox, etc., continually release updates, the forum software I’m running here hasn’t come out with a release in a while. The software company ownership changed hands over a year ago and they’ve been operating at a snail’s pace at releasing an update. However, I do know they are working on it. I believe the next release will help with issues like this. Despite the delay in a release, there are many benefits to this product over others and I have stuck with it, as opposed to switching to another option.

In the meantime, double check your auto-fill settings. That will speed up your log-in without having to type everything fully out. I use the latest version of Firefox and don't have to fully type out log-in and password to log-in here.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/control-firefox-automatically-fills-in-forms

P.S. Please come to Piketoberfest so I can dispel any rumors and answer any other questions you have in person. biggrin

for log in problems i would reccomend overreacting, followed by a post complaining about the site, then a nasty pm to mitch, and finally a sign off post listing the reasons you hate everything in life, and you can find a better place, and how things arent the same, blah blah blah.

ya know like the last d-bag with no tact.

oh, wait, you didnt do that?

you simply asked Mitch for help?!?!?! and he responds timely and with solutions?!?!

and it worked?

Mitch,

Do you know when this will be fixed? The software company has been working on it for quite some time now....

I use the following:
iPhone with Newest software and Safari
iPad with newest software and safari
Laptop with newest version of Firefox or Chrome

75% of the time i have to log in.

I participate in other forms and they do not have this issue.

not trying to bust balls (for once) but its just annoying.

thanks

Guys,

Try this. If you have your browser autofill settings turned on, you will never have to type out your user name and password after you've already done it once. I use Firefox on desktop, and Chrome on Android and Samsung galaxy phones, and I never have to type in my user name and password to log-in here.

Just click in the log-in box and your user log-in name will come up for you to select and then your password will automatically filly in.

Below is how to adjust the settings for different browsers. Give it a try.

Chrome

Firefox

Are you finding you get logged out after a spending a long period of time on the site? Or, does it happen at random, and sometimes shortly after logging in?

The more exact details you can provide, the better. I never get logged out (and I'm on multiple devices, on multiple ISPs) so trying to see what might resolve it.

Restart on the PC is one of the most common. Android phone is the most robust, rarely have a loss on it. 2 PCs that I have at home that usually keep a firefox window open at all times have intermittent losses, but can easily happen a couple of times a day. I do not seem to remember a time where I lose my login when I have stayed on the site for a period of time. It is usually when I come back to the site after being gone for some time....

In lieu of flowers please make donations to a charity of your choice....

It is very random throughout the day, but almost always after periods of non-use IE almost always first time on in the morning.

less with PC than with Apple products.

FYI.

It doesn't happen to me as much as others, I guess.

I access the site several times every day, usually with no problems (i.e., I'm already logged in when I access the site).

However, once or twice a week, I'm not logged in when I visit the site.

This only happens the first time I visit the site after booting up my computer in the AM.

I'm usually good for another week or so after logging in.

Computer: iMac running OS X Yosemite (10.10.1) and Safari 8.0.

Never while I'm actively on.

On my first visit each time it Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 tries, i.e it will log me on then when I click a forum I'm logged off.

This is usually after a day or two of not being on.

I find that when I lose my login (Internet Explorer browser) and don't realize it until I try to open a post and get bumped to the login page, if I click on the login button on top right of page, I can then point mouse over the User box and it will auto fill my username and password. If I don't click on the Login button at top, no auto-fill comes up and then you have to type everything in.

I finally talked to a guy today who is more technical than me. He's done some custom work for me in the past, and has worked on a lot of UBB boards (the forum software used here).

Long and short of it, it's a hard issue to pinpoint. It may happen to one user and not another with seemingly identical browsers and settings.

I've honestly never had the issue myself, and I use multiple devices and browsers. I've never been able to replicate it.

The one tip he did pass on was to try Chrome and NOT select the option to "remember me" on the log-in screen. Please try that and see if it makes any difference.

I wish I had a concrete answer on this one for those who are encountering this issue.

If you would like a refund, please PM me and I will refund your last payment in full.

Mitch, it's just a little annoying, not being a techie myself, I'll just blame in on IE, just another of the IE quirks that MS won't fix.

No refund needed Mitch. I get my 16 dollars worth, even if I have to log in Everytime. Just an annoyance.

Thanks for looking into this. I hope you and your helper and/or the UBB company find a fix.

I have noticed the last 2 weeks has been a steady stream of loss. 4-5 times a day...

Not as annoying when i am on the computer, but on the apple products its brutal... because i have to type out "Chris From Saybrook" every time... that's a lot of letters for a fat fingered guy

Hmmmm.

It's been just the opposite for me. I only use one device, an iMac with Safari, and it's been very stable for at least the last month or so. I checked the "keep me logged in" box, and I stay logged in for over a week at a time.

The few times I'm not already logged in when I visit the site (only happens when I try to access the site the 1st time after the computer was shut down), the log-in fields are already pre-filled when I go to log in again, so no keystrokes required.

Maybe trying to access the site from several different devices makes it confused?

A list with names and number of log-in losses. While reviewing this list he laughs and decides who should move up or down on the list. However, KT is always at number one. smile1

Sorry for your loss. Now that the royal rumble is over there can be some more research done to prevent future loss.

Clicking the remember me or not clicking the remember me doesn't make a difference for me.

but the newer iOS for the iphone has an auto-fill password button that fills username and password in...

a few less clicks at least...

still experiencing random loss.

Have you tried accessing CTF while wearing a CTF hat or CTF t-shirt or while waving the CTF WWF flag. Those things are proven to decrease your lost logins.....

The solution is switching to entirely new software for the forum.

It will fix the log in issue and will be a much better experience on mobile.

I just need to dedicate the time to making it happen … and be ready to deal with fallout/issues that might happen afterward.

It will happen. It’s just a question of when. I’ll keep everyone posted.

Thanks Mitch !

.

"Politically correct" was initially coined by Leon Trotsky to refer favorably to those whose views remained in sync with the ever-shifting Bolshevik Party line. This was important, as "not PC" people risked prison or death.
