I teach a class where the students build fishing rods. Most of them have never fished before and may or may not in the future, high school age students.

Plan is to use the fishing rods in Saltwater on the CT shoreline somewhere when completed.

Would it be possible to get a one day waiver of the licences so students can "try" out their new rods?

I'm sure some would then buy licenses after that.

If you chase two rabbits, you will not catch either one.

I would be happy to cover the cost of (2) for you. I usually buy my brother and his sons for them and even if they fish once or a dozen times with me or by themselves its always worth the smiles and laughs we share together while on the water.

Bryan, I will send you a PM when you clean out your box, let me know when you do

Bryan, contact Bill Foreman in Inland Fisheries. He may be able to give you a free derby permit for educational purposes.

Bryan, I emailed the thread to Bill and this is his response:

As a non-profit civic service organization, they can get an exemption from the license requirement for a one day event. Hopefully he calls me. Some of those have gone to schools for things like this. And if the governor signs the bill, SB-241 included provisions for an exemption for students taking a secondary school class with fishing included in its curriculum – but that’ll be a while yet.

Thanks,

Bill

Capt,

I think Bryan's intent was to hold this in the marine district.

Bryan the kids age may have an effect on this as well since 15 and under are not required to be a part of the federal registry. If that's the case you'd then only have to worry about the State. Nothing is easy these days.
