I punched in Sunday morning just as Daddy Pickle was punching out from the night shift. He said that he had a good trip and it was nice to run into him.
I intended to go into North and look for late spawners on beds, and that's where I spent the morning. I saw alot of empty beds, and the ones that held fish were very spooky and hard to work.
I managed to coax a 2 1/2 to eat a bitsy bug jig and caught 2 male bed guarders on a fluke. I also had 2 good sized pickerel on a swimbait.
I saw close to 20 lbs of largies cruising but they were not interested in my baits which made it interesting and frustrating at the same time. There was a small club tourney going on and a few guys I talked to had 4 each, but it was slow for everyone.
Overall, it was great to get out, the boat ran great and it beat doing the Honey Do list at home. The wind started ripping and the yahoos were flooding in about noon so I put it on the trailer.

Nice going Jon
I don't get to the Muck that often myself, even though it is pretty close to me -- the boat traffic there turns me off. Went there in early May last year, I found a ton of big in the shallows also, just couldn't get them to bite either. Feel like I'm never going to get a handle on the place cause I won't be going back there too often. Highland, same thing, and it's even a lot closer to me.
Better to imitate a Winner then be an Original Loser.
I noticed on my small pond that the bass nests have been abandoned without any of the eggs hatching and now I have the same cruising bass along the shore. I am only guessing here but maybe the water temps have to reach, or be at, a certain temp before they can hatch. With the cold and rainy spring maybe those kind of conditions were not met and the nests failed. In any case, there are no active nests nor any fry balls anywhere in my pond. I am anticipating a new round of nesting by those still ripe once the weather settles down in June. Just a guess.

I hate the place on the weekend but on weekday mornings it is quite nice!
