I had a great morning. Heard gobbles as I got out of the truck. I got down to the corner of the field and gave out a couple of calls and had three more gobblers answer me. Then as it got light, I heard another gobbler below me, so that made 5 birds gobbling. I worked a nice gobbler for about an hour before I got him to 30 yards and took him. Then with all the flopping, other gobblers started coming my way from about 200 yards away and as I was calling, I was able to call the two hens that were with them over to me. The Tom's followed and I took the biggest bird out of 4. He Has double beards and 1 1/4" Spurs. Took him at 45 Yards. Both Tom's Beards are 9" Using the Winchester 1300 20 gauge and Federal TSS 3" Turkey loads in #6 shot. Patterns good out to 55 yards
Great hunt and congrats on the double. I have to try the Tungsten loads.
If you have a heart condition, take a pill before looking at the price!
If you buy any to try, start with 7 1/2s which is the legal minimum size for turkey in CT, they hit like a 2 lead and there are a whole lot of them in an ounce and a half. I have my eye on a new 20 gauge turkey gun seeing how they work and how light the 20 is to tote around.
Nice bird!! Got my first hunt of 2020 under my belt the other day, got skunked, didn't even hear a bird but saw plenty of signs they frequent the area I was in.
