I have always marveled at the size of European yellow perch. They have to be a separate sub-species of our yellow perch. Below is an article on comparing both species. I wonder why the European yellow perch has not been imported to our U.S. waters. A new reservoir stocked with alewife herring for a few years and then the European yellow perch and some walleye would make for a great fishery.
