Finally got out on the boat for a few hours today after picking it up from Reynolds. New Lowrance electronics worked great, but I need time to really learn to use them to their potential.
Went to Gardner for a few hours and had 1 rod and a few baits to throw.
Caught 4 largies, a pickerel and a typical Gardner rat smallie.
The boat ran perfectly, like she missed me as much as I missed her!
Soft jerkbait and a ned rig is all I had in the boat. Lots of empty beds.

Pretty good day Jon. But why do you talk about the typical rat smallie. I have caught some really nice smallies there. Although years ago.

If there are fish to catch. I'll be there to my end.

Half hearted joke Don because it was tiny, and Gardner has some decent smallies, but the vast majority are 12”maybe 14”. A 3 lb smallie will be a Lunker.
I haven’t fished it in years, so maybe it’s gotten better, but it has a reputation for little smallies. Our CTF Smallie tournaments we use to hold there during prime spring time showed that year after year.
The largemouth are doing well, although mine were nothing special.

At least you got a few and started to tune in your new electronics! Gardner can be a stingy lake at times.

Jon we must have just missed you Saturday. I saw your boat in the next bay, I was not certain at fist but the CTF sticker gave it away! Garner is on my short list, only made it out there once last year. I never catch any giants but usually find plenty of action.

Darn AJ it would have been great to bump into you.
I thought of you and your son while I fished the docks where you caught that nice largie on a jig with me during the CTF kids derb.
It was a good stop for a few hours of fishing.
Good fishing to ya!
