I attended a wedding reception last year where the turkeys were deep fried. I have a great picture of the host trying to put out the fire. Finally had to give up and spray the bird with a fire extinguiser. I don't know how to post the picture, but it's a great lesson. The turkeys do turn out very good though. Outside of the one that got sprayed.

I did 3 turkeys at my families garage christmas party last year we have it every year and invite all our customiers and there families and our vendors we get about 250-300 people that show up through out the day. I make sauage/pepper/ onions, eggplant mozzarella , chili, cold cut platters, calm chowder, and a bunch of other different foods and pastries. I could not belive last year after I put out each turkey they were gone in less than 20mins. People waited till I made another some people actually ate some of all the turkeys. This year its 4-5 turkeys and hopefully I will get to taste some af it.

I,m trying one in a garbagecan. We have a 30lber in the oven and a 12lber in the can. This is the first time for one in the can.It sounds pretty simple. Will cook the bird in 1 hour 20 min. Had one a couple of weeks ago like this and it was great. Happy Thanksgiving to All. Joe

I've been doing for a couple years now. I saw an elecrtic one at Dicks yesterday. Anyone have one of these? Just curious how they heat i.e. comparible time frames to gas.

I'm pretty sure electrics take longer to heat, and recover from temp shocks when you dunk the bird.
But on the plus side, you can set the temp and not have to babysit the pot with a thermometer or heat gun waiting for the window of opportunity.
Didnt someone have a fryer out on the ice down here last year ??

I was going to deep fry a turkey at a walleye outing February at Garner Lake. Not big enough turn out and tons of other food so I did not cook the bird.

Last year we had deep fried turkey at at least two saltwater outings. The fluke fest and blackfish bash.

Yesterday mine took 51 minutes cooked under my garage overhang since it was raining. Came out delisious as always. Had the cajun maranate injector.
