I have done about 30 birds in the past 5-6 years and it is all ways a crowd pleaser. Once you do it a couple of times you get the hang of it. To measure the amount of oil needed I put the bird in the pot when its still in the plastic bag, fill it with water to cover and mark it. One last piece of advice do not stuff the bird unless you want to see hot oily stuffing shooting 30 feet in the air. From what I hear.

Not doing one this year. Good thing since its suppose to rain and I already did one in the rain. Had to do it under the overhang in front of my garage..

Great way to cook turkey. And once you have the oil there you might as well cook some wings, fries, whatever for football saturday and sunday.

Last year I did miscalculate the amount of oil and did not get all the water off and had a boil over. Lucky the grease did not touch the flames cuz I would of been on fire literally. Be safe people.

Father deep fried one for the church kitchen yesterday.

This is todays meal.

A turducken! A turkey, stuffed with a duck that's stuffed with a chicken. There is a thin layer of stuffing between each bird. The stuffings are; cornbread, rice and sausage, and shrimp.

All three birds are boned first. Leave the legs and wings on the turkey.

Fixed it at the request of my youngest son. First and last turducken for me. Looks good, lots of work. Just waiting for the rest of the family to arrive for the feast.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Boned Turkey

Duck inside of turkey with two layers of the stuffings

Chicken inside of duck, inside of turkey and three stuffings

Final product ready for the oven

Assistant chefs with prize

Ready to carve

Time to eat!!!!!

An open mind goes a long way....
