It's almost time for the annual trashing of our fishing area's by the weekend warriors \:o \:o

Did I mention I hate opening day and think it should be abolished !!! ;\)

and picking up trash could be a full time job after opening day,the slobs come out in force on opening day.

If anyone wants to know where I will be : Bass Fishing ;\)

I hearya Mike! However it is quite obvious our Commish will never entertain abolishment of opening day. It sure would be better if it were like Mass. Instead of an opening day I say devote 1 weekend to kids only, like a Sat. n Sun. Just a thought.

I hear ya too, Mike.. BUT , I think of " the third week of April " like Easter!!
It's unfortunate about all the pigs rabbishing the areas, but I love watching all the " 1 day a yearlings " out there..
I've been out there every year since 5 years old, too!! See you all Saturday!!

Too much tradition....

If we are concerned about the garbage we should police the areas ourselves.........

Fishing on opening day is like going drinking on New Years eve. \:D

I understand the tradition, but the one-day wonders really can trash a place fast.

why is that a waste of resource? Some people only go fishing one or two times a year and its usually the first two weeks of the season like you said, does that mean that they shouldnt fish? Just because they dont fish all year round they dont count as fishermen? I always thought that fishing was an activity to get people into the outdoors expecially childern. Opening day trout are usually so easy to catch that is the best time to take a kid fishing. No kid wants to fish all day and try every lure in their box or every different kind of bait that is out there, thats not going to get them interested in fishing, going out and catching a **** load of fish is gonna keep them going back for more, and thats what it is all about. If you want trout stocked all year round, join a club!
