I live in wallingford and grew up fishing MacKenzie res. For the last two years they have drained and been dredging the lake out. The lake looks awesome now with more structure and drop offs, and almost 30% more capacity. I want to know if the town state or rod and gun club have or plan to stock this lake again? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

If bluefish were the size of bluefin, I would poison the whole ocean.
Being it's only open to town residents, I don't expect you'll see the state do anything. Not sure the Rod & Gun club will stock it when it's open to all town residents, so they're probably out. I wouldn't count on the town of Wallingford either based upon their record.

Yeah it's not what it used to be, I just went there today after work, no bass and just 3 tiny perch. I'm guessing a lot of fish bit the dust when they drained it. Hooked one nice bass there earlier this year but aside from that one fish it has been lack luster at best.
Hopefully within a couple of years it will come back. There won't be any stocking.

Hmmm we could run some over from north farms oh wait a second scratch that there is only about 12 fish left from the fish kill. Hmmm anyone have any ideas about bucket stocking within a 10 mile radius please PM. Hah!

Please be advised that in Connecticut it is illegal to stock fish without a permit from DEEP. This prohibition is intended to prevent: 1) The introduction of invasive species (including pathogens causing diseases such as largemouth bass virus and VHS). 2) Interference with ongoing fisheries management through the introduction of inappropriate species.
Should the owner of the property be interested in jumpstarting the fish community they should contact DEEP Inland Fisheries (860-424-3474) for more information and permits. Additionally, one of our habitat biologists can provide guidance as to the numbers and species of fish to be stocked.

To follow up what Bill just posted....how many of you used to and the key terminology is "used to" fish for kokanee in Twin Lake? Those of you who did, would you have liked to prevent whoever put the alewives in there from doing so? Granted it's a great brown trout fishery now, but I know a lot of people who liked it when it was a premier kokanee lake.
Invasive species consist of more than just zebra mussels and milfoil. The wrong type of fish can destroy the ecosystem in a water body. Like Bill said, if yo want to stock it, do it the right way with input from DEEP biologists.
