Does anyone in the DEP or Encon know what used to be behind the Simsbury High School, on the other side of Stratton Brook?
When I was much younger, and lived up the street from the high school, I used to fish the whole stream from the park all the way down to the Old Mill, including behind the high school. One day we found a run off entering the stream, and followed it over a bank to discover a couple small clear water ponds. There was some kinda walk way constructed over them, but much of it in ruins. While walking around the bank, you could see trout scattering around to hide from your presence. In the summer, the water would weed up with algae.
I have not been there is years now (25 or more years) and I wonder if anyone developed over it, or is it still there.
What was this area way back when? Anyone know? It was believed by me and my friends that it looked like some old fish hatchery ruins.
I found this article Published: January 7, 1894 on GOOGLE, that could be related: CT FISH HATCHERIES...
