All the classes listed on the DEEP site for hunter safety education are already full. (also the home course field day is full) What other options are available? The site mentions some other places that may have classes, but where is that info likely to be found.

http://www.ct.gov/dep/cwp/view.asp?a=2700&q=429848

There is obviously a need for more classes.

In the beginning there was nothing. Even that exploded.

You need to keep checking every few days, new classes appear all the time.

They need more classes, but the classes are taught by volunteers. We can only run classes when the instructors are available.

When I wanted to get into a firearms safety class I set a repeat reminder on my email calendar that would send me an alert every day at 9am with a link to the class page. I got into my class after a month. I am now doing the same for the bowhunting safety class.

If you use Microsoft Outlook or Entourage it is easy - I am sure there is some online freeware that would also do the same...

All classes must be registered with DEEP and made available to the public if I am correct.

I am an instructor and it takes a team to get these classes up and running and sometimes coordinating everyone's schedule becomes a little bit of a hassle. Be patient, many more will be getting scheduled. Most of us are just getting over the holidays and hunting and back on track with our free time.

Here's an idea...I know there are a few CEFS instructors who are members of CTF. What about them getting together and scheduling a class somewhere in the center of the state for members/member's kids? I know some of the F&G clubs that have instructors as members have done something similar in the past.

Same thing with the bow course, if there's any bow instructors on board here.

The fundamental human right to keep and bear arms is the foundation of popular sovereignty in America. It is what makes this a nation whose citizens are their own masters, and more importantly masters of our government. The alternative is a country peopled not by citizens, but by subjects, beholden and subservient to the state. This is what would-be tyrants of every political stripe dream of.

My youngest and oldest sons both want to take the course as well. We always seem to just miss getting into one.

I would also like to take the bow course this year so I am ready for fall, but again cannot find a class.

Hopefully there will be more classes soon.

My 12 yr old son and I are both looking to take the class. I had let my NY license lapse years ago. We'll keep watching for openings too.
