I have traveled all over the country to many tribal lands both on and off reservations. The enrolled members of these tribe do not need fishing license to fish or hunting license on the rez. And in some places they don't need them off the rez either. How does that relate to ct. I am a member of a federaly recognized tribe in ct. I have always purchased a license. Do i need to. Some officers say no some yes some just don't know. Would really like some answers on this. Thanks.

Federally recognized Native Americans are not required to obtain a state-issued fishing license to fish in waters on their own federally designated reservation, but are required to obtain the appropriate Connecticut fishing license when fishing in Connecticut off their reservation. Note that in Connecticut, members of three tribes (Paucatuck Eastern Pequot, Schaghticoke and Golden Hill Paugussett) not federally recognized may also fish on their respective reservations without first obtaining a state fishing license.
