I want to take my grandsons fishing for sunnies etc before the trout season starts. What are the regs for fishing for them before opening day? Is it okay to fish in places that are trout fisheries, or are we limited to small non trout ponds? If so, where might there be some in Milford/Fairfield area? Just introducing them to fly fishing.

Thanks

except for tmas, a good example of this is union pond in manchester. plenty of panfish to be caught, still may be a bit cold, but worth a shot.

Get a copy of the 2013 Fishing Guide. That lists all the regulations for each body of water. If the area you are interested in fishing is not listed then the statewide regulations apply.

Generally all rivers and streams are closed, but there are some special regulations related to trout management or bass management areas that may apply.

Cap'n:

Thanks to you and all, I thought that was the ruling. There is a small pond I know of that is not stocked, I'll give it a shot there.
