Several weeks ago the blue crabs hatched, many blue shell crabs in the harbor area, Problem is we have some who don't understand or care about harvest regs. My friends have been calling the DEP hotline, Sometimes Officers respond, sometimes not, I've seen two groups of these lowlives down there the last 4 days. The locals that are law abiding are getting a little fed up with these lowlifes and are wondering if there are any other options. Example might be DEP CALLING NORWICH PD FOR ASSISTANCE

Option #1

Get a pair of leather gloves and put them on. Then walk up to the poachers, grab 2-3 blue crabs from their bucket (be sure to piss them off), then stuff them down the poachers pants and proceed to push them off the dock.

I have always wanted to stuff a blue crab down someones pants..

Seriously, though - there is a lot of dirtbags that hang out down there. I would think the NPD would be interested in getting involved and maybe find a few outstanding warrants.

Encon was the responding law enforcement, One of the poachers had 12 undersized blue crabs.

They all come to Norwich at some point in time it seems. Good work keeping these guys honest. Most people here follow the rules but there are those that think they will never get caught. As far as the Norwich Police Department responding they are understaffed for the most part with the budget crisis in the city. We have enough knuckleheads keeping them busy like guys swimming in the Shetucket and drowning etc.

If I fish more I need more lures. If I had more lures I would fish more. I don't think I'm addicted do you?
