Hi LE, I'm a beginner shooter and was interested in a semi automatic .22 rifle to plink with. I was told that it's illegal to possess any kind of semi-automatic weapons, and though I don't doubt the source, he couldn't reference that.
Soooo, would a person in the know kindly refer me the regs on this? I googled for a bit and got a page with many many links and it would've taken hours to pour thru it all. Are there any handy at-a-glance references?
In addition, where can I find similar references for where it is and isn't ok to fire guns?

Pick yourself up a Ruger 10/22 they are sweet and available everywhere. One of the best .22's ever made. as for where to shoot? Any gun range. Meriden as a .22 only range called Silver City or something. They are real guns so if your on private land I would say be-careful.

Semi-autos are perfectly legal in ct assuming they dont have a couple specifics that I would lump into the "no-no list" : collapsable stock, flash suppressor, bayonet lug.
Easy thing to do...go to one of your local gun shops...if they are willing to sell it, then its legal to own in ct
Best bet would be something like the Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22. Awesome machine with a lot of the bells and whistles to make it seem like a true AR style rifle.

That would be assuming that Dusty is up to speed on current gun laws . I agree on the 10/22. The most adaptable gun on the market. Tons of aftermarket accessories available.
