Capt. Why can't I use my debit card to renew my hunting license? I am not in state at this time, I need a hunting license to get a non resident license.
I was able to renew the reg for my car with my debit card?
Cash is cash, right? Credit is cash in waiting, which can be disputed?

Is your card a true debit card (Bank card) or is a Debit card thru Mastercard or Visa? Although my Debit card has my bank's name on it, its still a MC and have never had an issue with it in the past.

It is a Visa debit card, so there is cash behind it! If I go in to buy A license in person will have to pay in cash or credit card! I doubt my cash would NOT be accepted.
I renewed my Ct. licenses via computer in early January including a 2014 archery license and used my Visa debit card issued by my credit union. I had no problems.

BP, I am curious. I thought you were gone and never looking back. Made a big stink about never giving this state another dime. Maybe they heard you and your money is no good here????

My very technical answer to this issue is - I have no idea.....
I don't know how the system handles payment. I've been buying my licenses for the past 20 years by going downstairs to the either License & Revenue or the front office at WDHQ and paying cash!
I would suggest calling License & Revenue in Hartford if you are still having a problem.

From the DEEP website:
Before you start:
This is a good time to get out your driver's license and the credit card you will be using to make your payment. If you have taken any Connecticut Hunter Safety courses, you should also have out one of your certificates. Visa and Mastercard CREDIT cards are accepted for payment of license fees. Debit cards are not accepted. This service requires the use of Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher or Netscape 6.0 or higher or Firefox 2.0 or higher. Throughout the transaction process, sensitive data transmissions between your browser and the server are secured (This site is certified by Digicert.) Information collected will not be disclosed to unauthorized parties except as required by state or federal law. Transaction confirmations and related information will be sent if you provide a valid email address. You will need a printer to print your license and sales receipt. The license you print at the end of your transaction is your official license and, after signing the license, you must carry it whenever you go into the field. In the event of printer or user error, you will be allowed to reprint your license. After you complete the transaction, you may reprint your license at any time by logging back into the system. Not that one would want to take the time and read the instructions...
Every Financial Adviser today recommends usingCredit cards vs. Debit Cards for any purchase....at least until the stores come up with the European Method of using a chip in the actual card & NOT a magnetic strip. The days of Debit cards are numbered...especially after the Target Stores magnetic Strip rip off....

I would need my wife to explain it since she is a credit card using expert but I believe that a bank issued VISA credit card can be used in a store as both a debit card (you swipe and enter your pin number) or as a credit card but the bank just pays the charge off like it is a debit transaction so you don't have to do anything like send in a check to pay it off but it allows the transaction to go through without entering a pin number. When I buy on line I never enter a pin number so it is handled like a credit card. When I go to an ATM you do enter a pin number so it is a straight debit transaction. Same card, card number, security number, etc.
