Do you have a trap that you consider legal for land trapping of coyote, I can't find any traps that are padded with a 1/4" offset. Most are listed as offset or padded, some of the suppliers are recommending MB 550 or MB 650 padded traps, are these traps CT legal. Below is from the Deep web site.
Thanks
Padded Metal Trap: A legal padded metal trap has all of the following features or characteristics:
Spring strength not exceeding 55 inch pounds with arms closed and 85 inch pounds with arms in the open position; A gap between the arms of the trap in the closed position no less than 1/4 inch in width and no less than 4 inches in length; Replaceable non-weather hardening, non-age hardening padding material not less than 3/32 inch thick covering the closing surfaces and securely affixed to the arms of the trap; A chain no longer than 6 inches in length; Swivels located at each end of the chain, and; A shock absorbing spring incorporated into the anchoring chain.
If you remove the pads the offset is under the pads so you have a offset trap but the pads fill the offset. MB's, Jakes, and victors are all this way. The Jake trap is great as you can use it with the pads or remove the pads and have an equivalent to a offset laminated trap to use in other states All padded traps are mfg this way unless they were modified by someone to not have the offset, but on a trap that has a dog the pad would get in the way of the dog engaging the pan.
