I recently purchased a house with 1.5 acres, abutting 250 acres of farm land. My closest neighbors are 1000 feet away in either direction. I recently have been encountering a very aggressive coyote. It has attacked my chickens in broad daylight with my wife less than 10 feet away. I also have a small (15lb) dog. I don't own a firearm, but have family members who do. I do however have a compound and a crossbow which I use for target shooting. My question is what can I do, as a homeowner to protect the livestock and my dog? Can I use the bow or the crossbow if it's in my yard, and would I need a hunting license?

Thanks in advance
