Guys/Gals
Last year I bought a new boat trailer for the 12 ft aluminum along with 6hp Johnson. Now it's time to buy more toys. I'm trying to make a mini trout machine.I'm looking to buy a GPS and a depthfinder. Perhaps a combo unit I noticed Cabela's had a handheld Lowrance H20 and Hummingbird 768 sonar gps as well as several Eagle products -A Fishmark 320 and a Fishlite 642CL on sale this wk. Does anyone know anything about these products or have any recommendations? Obviously, space is a concern. Thanks in advance.

I have the H2Oc hand held and use it all the time. But you will have to by a navionics chip or the lowrance one to get the depth contour maps of the lakes. That's another $100 or better. For and inexpensive FF the Fishmark 320 is a great machine as far as I am concerned. I've got one on two of my boats. I opted for the separate units as I can take the GPS on either boat or use it while hunting or hiking. If it's just for boating then maybe you would want a combo unit. It would be no bigger than the 320 FF unit. probably the cost would be about the same in the end for a colorunit if you look aroung on the net or check the sales. I believe there was an Eagle combo unit on sale at Cabelas or still is. Now don't forget the downriggers and the leadline rigs. OOps, now I'm running out of room and need a bigger boat.lol Good luck and happy fishing. Hope thi was of some help.

I'm with trout tracker that a combo unit would be nice but the same as he, I have the Eagle Fishmark 320 and am very happy with that unit. I also have the Lowrance H2Oc and love that little unit. Take it on the boat, truck or on the ice.

Eagle has the 480 unit combo sonar/GPS for a very reasonable price.

The Humminbird 768 is a great deal and a very good B&W FF/GPS. I bought one for my boat on Monday, used a $40.00 off coupon, and paid $260 plus tax. Had to buy something else for a penny to get the total price to $300 so the $40 off coupon would be good. biggrin

I have the eagle 480 combo unit with the nav. chip. The unit works very well. The only issue I have is with the nav. chip, as it doesnt have some of the lakes I fish in Maine, like East Grand or West Grand.I think it has just about everyplace here in CT though.

Guys,
Thanks for all your feedback. I think maybe you guys have talked me out of the combo FF/GPS unit. The portable GPS will give me some extra flexibility I guess I'll gave to buy an addt'l FF for the second boat up in ME. Does anyone know if I can buy a chip for the the Lowrance H20 that has contours of ME lakes as well. The family has a Cabin on Damariscotta lake so I spend some time fishing up there as well.

Check the navionics web site as well as the lowrance site and they will give you a list of lakes that the chips includes.
