Agreed Don!

It's a brown trout alright, over the years I've witnessed many color variations in that species as well as other trout, more noticeably in the holder-overs and older fish. Mainly depends on their environment which can have noticeable effects on skin patterns and/or alterations in skin color. Just wondering did your fish come out of the Farmington or a lake?

Fishing the Salmon River I noticed that the browns were usually darker in color than the fish caught I've caught in weed-bed areas on the Housatonic up in the Cornwall area. They looked more like your brown which I believe is more to the fish's ability to camouflage. As Don mentioned, genetics along with habitat, diet all play a part.
