The new laws primarily deal with purchase/transfer of long guns. There is no "permit to carry" a rifle or shotgun. If the shotgun is unloaded and stored in a carrying case, in the trunk or locked in hardcase in the passenger compartment separate from the ammo there shouldn't be a problem.
