Something changed in the stocking numbers. During the state finance problems when the DEEP was facing big cut-backs they said they were closing a hatchery and trout stocking for 2018 was going to be reduced to 300,000 trout versus the normal number which was somewhere above 600,000. That set the stage for requesting, and getting approval, of the new trout stamp among other things. Now the 2018 trout stocking number is 550,000 trout? How did they make up the difference or was there never going to be a difference and the 300,000 number was a bogus statement.
