Where does the Yantic officially become the Thames? The Thames and its coves are open. Also, one might assume that the Yantic below Indian Leap is open year round as it is more tidal and closer to the Thames than the area below Greenville dam, which is open. I believe that the inclusion in the regs. of the Greenville area and not the Indian Leap area is (a) an oversight or (b) intentional because this is considered part of the Thames. If neither is the case, then there must be some clear indication of where the Yantic ends so fishermen know where they can legally go out of season.
The Yantic ends at Norwich Harbor, where it meets the Shetucket, this is where the Thames starts. So, anything south of the Harbor (Thames) and the Greenville Dam (Shetucket) is open year round. There is no mention of the Yantic being open year round in any portion except TMA's.

I thought it ended at the Harbor. Doesn't the Shetucket do the same? Wouldn't you assume that the river to Indian Leap would be open if the river to Greenville was as well? The DEP should really think about putting up a few signs to let people know the fishing Indian Leap is not OK until opening day. I know a lot of guys who have fished there for years and would bet their house that the place is open. Seems like the regs were never enforced before now. Maybe they should just keep this section of river open. Nobody's taking trout here - especially not on Mambo Minnows or live eels.

this should be fixed. any trout that gets washed over the falls is surely going to end up in the stomach of a bass as soon as it hits the water. the regs should be changed to "no fishing above indian leap falls before opening day.
