Hot off the presses through RISAA. From Chief Hall, RI DEM: Big Al was one of the guys netting tons of bunker in CT. His boat was the small camo boat.
"We arrested Albert Reeves, DOB 5-3-63, 254 Winthrop St. Rehoboth MA. Officer John Gingerella and Sgt. Joseph Poccia boarded Reeves as he landed in Galilee. The officers had information that Reeves was illegally taking over limits of striped bass and hiding the illegal fish in a hidden compartment on his boat and selling the fish to dealers in Massachusetts. When encountered, Reeves was in possession of 8 striped bass which would be a legal recreational catch due to the fact that there had been 4 fishermen on the boat. Reeves insisted that he had no more fish and allowed the officers to search the boat. Officers saw wires running under the deck which they followed to a concealed switch. When they threw the switch, a hidden compartment opened hydraulically. There were ten additional illegal fish in the compartment. Reeves will be arraigned on 9-1-10 for Exceeding the Limit of Stripped Bass. Reeves pleaded NOLO in July of 2003 on the same charge and was fined $450.00."

Wow so he had 18 Striped Bass total on the boat huh. I think that's great how the DEP took the time to find the compartment and open it up. They definitely deserve a pat on the back.
I wonder if it was that same Camo boat that had the hidden compartment. Imagine how long he's been doing this for. Considering he was arrested for this 7 years ago I hope he gets more then just a $450 fine. They need to make an example out of this guy.
Doesn't sungunabeach fish with a guy named big al?
Probably not the same guy, he rides around in a sweet parker

In RI,,,, it's the DEM- Department of Environmental Management. The CT DEP had nothing to do with it. Between them and the NOAA agents they've nabbed two of the more blatent poachers operating in the region. I can tell you for a fact that the RI EO's 'take no prisoners' when they do a boarding. If you've got something that you shouldn't have... they'll find it. By-the-way... theyr'e not done, yet.

Congrats to R.I. DEM and whoever tipped them. Repeat offender... I wish they would impound his boat, confiscate all his tackle and rods, suspend his commercial and recreational licenses ( not that it would stop him). Previous $450 fine was obviously not a deterrent.
