Hopefully those several hundred Seeforellen Brown Trout are not being stocked so our govornor can close down the hatchery....
I have heard there are plans to close the Kensington Hatchery, which is the only hatchery that produces Seeforellen and atlantics. I hope this is not true as this would be devestating to the quality of CT trout stocking program...
they need to spend money to make money. i wish they would put more effort into stocking. i do it because a want to, as soon as theres no fun in it, i stop. then they lose the license fees, boat reg, trailer reg. the guys on the hill don't realize it. that general fund will dry up in a minute the harder they make it for the sportsman. next year they'll stock 200k trout.
Today we put some more Kensington Hatchery beasties out. 32 individuals weighed in at 240 pounds. That averages out at 7.5 pounds each. Not all the fish weighed in at 7.5 pounds. There were some bigger. Much bigger.
The Little River (Oxford, Seymour)section was stocked on 4/8/13 and received 300 adult brook, 500 adult brown, 200 adult rainbow for a total of 1,000 adult fish. The crew may have spread out the fish more than usual. If you see any likely spot where they could have put the fish give it a try.
Was Beacon Hill Brook in Naugatuck and Beacon Falls stocked this year? I did a little scouting on Sunday and came up empty in the regular pools that typically hold fish. Thanks, Mike
