Sec. 26-6b. Search of containers by conservation officers.
Any person who, upon request or signal of any conservation officer or special conservation officer performing his duty pursuant to section 26-6, fails to stop or remain stopped until such officer reaches his immediate vicinity and makes known to him the reason for the request or signal, or any person who fails to stand by for inspection of any container in his possession on request from such officer under such circumstances or who disposes of any fish, crustacean or container of any kind, or its contents, after being requested or signaled to stop by such officer but before such officer has inspected the same shall be guilty of a class C misdemeanor.
The fundamental human right to keep and bear arms is the foundation of popular sovereignty in America. It is what makes this a nation whose citizens are their own masters, and more importantly masters of our government. The alternative is a country peopled not by citizens, but by subjects, beholden and subservient to the state. This is what would-be tyrants of every political stripe dream of.

My friend a former CO told me that people who follow the law are usually happy to be checked as it makes them feel vindicated for following the laws...on the hand you have the dirtbags....

I have had both. Co's that were good guys and others that were ball busters and one who didn't know the law exactly till we explained it to him and he checked it out to find out we were correct. Not an easy job. I'm always friendly and courteous but I never know how they will react, just like the people they check. I've had more good experiences than bad.

Never had a problem with any of the encon officers the few times i have been checked, icefishing, on the lake or in the stream. All were professional.
Now there is a jackass up in VT. I could write a small novel on that DICK.
Story goes, we rented a boat at a fish camp up in Swanton, I not realizing we needed actual PFD,s. WE did have seat cushions that were a throwable floatation.
So me being the renter of the voat what do I know? It was the responsvility of the fish camp, butmy father and I were the one's to get hassled.
All he had to do was give us a frindly warning....i would have went back to the camp right there and then.....but NOOOOOOO he was an absoulte ahole, my father and I were both ready to chuck him in the water.
He was a rude PRICK, plain and simple....ya got to go pretty far to psuh my button..that he did....he followed our 14 foot deep v tin can with a whoopping 9.9 hp like a shadow....like we were going to escape.....and on top of it we were catching bass at will,.....one of those MAGIC days....then this guy ruined a good hour of fishing... Lesson learned....we got a citation on top of it.....the camp made good on it by paying the fine but OUR NAMES were on it.....camp forgot to put the pfd's in the boat....... Ct Encon has always been courtesy and professional....maybe they should take a field trip up to VT. And show that jackass up there how it was done.....he should of gave us a warning, not cite us friggin bastard!
